Science Committee Members Applaud DOE Selection of California, Oregon, Michigan, Illinois, and Ohio for Hydrogen Hubs
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Department of Energy (DOE) announced seven Regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs that will make up the hydrogen hub program. The purpose of this program is to form a clean hydrogen network that will decarbonize various industries including trucking, shipping, and manufacturing.
The Democratic Science Committee Members representing states selected to house a Hydrogen Hub include Ranking Member Zoe Lofgren (CA-18), Rep. Suzanne Bonamici (OR-1), Rep. Haley Stevens (MI-11), Rep. Eric Sorensen (IL-17), Rep. Andrea Salinas (OR-6), Rep. Kevin Mullin (CA-15), Rep. Emilia Sykes (OH-13), Rep. Ted Lieu (CA-36), and Rep. Sean Casten (IL-6).
“These hubs will cut millions of metric tons of carbon emissions each year, and we are proud to be a part of it,” said the Members. “The selection of our states to house hydrogen hubs is a historic step forward in achieving a decarbonized, clean energy future. We’re proud to see California, Oregon, Michigan, Illinois, and Ohio represented in this major milestone. These hubs will create jobs, build key infrastructure, and strengthen the communities in our states.
